 Claddaghduff is a short distance from Cleggan village and is probably best known for its many sandy beaches, particularly Omey strand, which separates Omey island from the mainland. Omey island is a mysterious place, with many relics of early christian settlement dating back thousands of years. Saint Fechins church, now almost buried by the sand dunes, a holy well and the site of an archaeological excavation are among the many points of interest on the island. Almost all the houses in this area have stunning sea views towards the panorama of islands and ocean that surrounds the peninsula.
 The Claddaghduff peninsula is ideal for walking, most of the favourite routes being circular and finishing in the Strand bar where a good pint and traditional music can be had. The shore fishing is good in the area is very good and Aughrusbeg lake has good brown trout fishing.
Enjoy the annual Omey horse races which are held on omey strand each summer. You can also take a day trip to Inishbofin Island on the ferry which leaves from Cleggan daily. This Island is one of Connemaras true jewels.
