Letterfrack is the heart of north connemara famous for its wood working college and national park and close proximity to Kylemore Abbey Gothic Castle, which is the home of the Benedictine Nuns. It is now a prospering boarding school and art and craft center visited by thousands of tourists every year. Its worth visiting just for its spectacular beauty alone. In recent years, the nuns have renovated a Victorian walle d garden and glass houses. To top all of this it has Kylemore Fishery, a very prolific salmon and sea trout fishery wild and unspoiled ideal for the discerning fisherman. This part of connemara is the perfect spot for hill walkers and offers activity holidays at the little Killary Adventure Centre. There are three very good pubs in Letterfrack, and three restaurants, food shopping and a post office. Letterfrack is an ever growing village in Connemara which also boasts its traditional music and craic.
