ANGLING
Connemara has long been a destination for fishermen from all parts of the world and offers some of the finest salmon and trout fishing in Ireland. Whether you prefer an exciting day at sea doing a little sharkfishing, a few peaceful hours on a trout lake or trying your hand at salmon fishing on the rivers, there is plenty of assistance available to ensure a memorable experience. Bookings are usually advisable. For more information about the area, visit the Connemara website at http://www.connemara-ireland.ie
SEA ANGLING
There are several well known charter angling boats in the area, and these cater for deep sea fishing, from blue shark to reef fishing for pollack and cod. The sea fishing is nearly always rewarding, and sometimes spectacular. Shore fishing can be very good with a lot of surf beaches and rocky marks.

LAKE AND RIVER FISHING
Brown trout fishing in Ireland is free, but for a nominal fee one can join Clifden Anglers Club, which gives access to boats on some lakes, and up-to-date information on methods and which lakes are fishing best. Salmon anglers will be in their element here, being within striking distance of the Kylemore, Delphi, Erriff, Ballinahinch and Screebe fisheries. later in the year there is some good sea trout fishing to be had, but it must be said that the sea trout have suffered in recent years, although there have been some encouraging signs in some fisheries.
